ARITON — The Ariton Purple Cats used timely hitting and aggressive baserunning to secure a 9-3 victory over the Ramsay Rams on Monday at Bayside Academy Sports Complex.
Leading the way for Ariton was Bryce Odom, who delivered a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a single. Odom’s production helped power a 12-hit offensive effort for the Purple Cats.
Ariton’s depth also proved to be a key factor, particularly from the bottom of the lineup. Odom, Ridge Hicks, and Conner Davidson combined for six hits, four runs scored, and two RBIs, helping keep pressure on Ramsay throughout the game.
Ramsay struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on early opportunities to take a 2-0 lead. However, Ariton quickly responded in the bottom of the third inning. Wells Ganey delivered a two-run single to even the score, and Addison Senn followed with an RBI double to give the Purple Cats a lead they would not relinquish.
Hicks earned the win on the mound, turning in a strong outing. He worked 5 1/3 innings, allowing just one unearned run on three hits while striking out six and walking one. Odom also contributed in relief, tossing a scoreless inning with one strikeout to help close out the game.
At the plate, Ariton continued to produce across the lineup. Pierce Gill, Senn, and Davidson each recorded multiple hits, while Brodie Lowery added speed on the bases with two stolen bases. As a team, the Purple Cats swiped five bases and turned two double plays defensively.
Ramsay was led offensively by Pierce Alexander, who recorded two hits from the leadoff spot, while Gregory Nixon drove in a run.
With the win, Ariton builds momentum as the Purple Cats prepare to travel to face the Chelsea Hornets in their next matchup.
