OZARK — Ozark City Schools Board of Eduation is one step closer to choosing the person who will lead the system as superintendent. The school sytem has called an unscheduled board meeting set for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, at the district’s Board Room inside the Central Office, located at 860 Highway 231, Ozark. The meeting will be held in the Board Room.
During the meeting, Dr. Tim Morgan, a consultant with the Alabama Association of School Boards, will provide a formal update on the superintendent search process and announce the five finalists for the position of Superintendent of Education.
The announcement represents a major de3velopment in Ozark City School’s (OCS) effort to find and hire its next leader. The Alabama Association of School Boards has been assisting the local board of education with the search, including reviewing applications and guiding the selection process.
The vacancy was made when current OCS Superintendent Reeivice Girtman surprised the city when he announced in September that he would be stepping down from his post. Girtman has served as superintendent for OCS since 2021.
The meeting is open to the public, and community members are expected to attend as the district moves closer to naming its next superintendent. Additional information about the finalists and the timeline for selection is anticipated following Tuesday’s meeting.
