OZARK –The Ozark City Council addressed several key items of city business during Tuesday’s regular meeting, which was the first meeting of the new administration.
Newly seated Council Members Bryan Macario and Caitlyn Cummings joined reelected Councilman Winston Jackson and Council Members Les Perault and Brenda Simechak, both of whom were unopposed and automatically retained their seats, on the City Council for the term that began Monday, November 3.
During the meeting, the council unanimously approved a measure to declare two local properties a public nuisance.
Council members voted to declare 588 Martin Street and 170 Hall Drive as public nuisances, authorizing city officials to move forward with cleanup or corrective action as needed. This declaration is used when a property owner is either unable or unwilling to properly maintain their property and forces the city to take action.
The council also amended the original agenda to add two new items, including a board appointment and a schedule change for the first December City Council meeting.
The council appointed Mayor Charles Ward to the Southeast Gas Board and approved rescheduling the regular December 2 meeting to December 1 to avoid a conflict with the annual Ozark Christmas Parade.
All agenda items passed unanimously, reflecting a productive session for the city’s leadership. The next regular meeting of the Ozark City Council is scheduled for November 18, at 5:00 p.m. on the second floor in the Ozark Municipal Complex.
