The Ozark City Council will meet Monday, Aug. 17, rather than its usual Tuesday schedule, with several significant items on the agenda, including consideration of the city’s proposed FY2027 budget and other financial and city business matters.
The meeting is scheduled to begin promptly at 5 p.m. at Ozark City Hall.
The one-time schedule change comes as the council prepares to take up several matters involving city finances, public safety, transportation, emergency services, and other municipal business.
Among the most notable items is the approval of the FY2027 budget, which is listed as an agenda item to be presented by Mayor Charles Ward and Chris. The council previously tabled consideration of the FY2027 budget at its last meeting.
Also on Monday’s agenda is a resolution for a retiree bonus, to be presented by Mayor Ward.
The council is also scheduled to consider a resolution to adopt the city’s FY2027 Transportation Plan.
Public safety and education will also be addressed through a proposed contract between the City of Ozark and Ozark City Schools for school resource officers. The item is listed for presentation by Ozark Police Chief Michael Bryan.
Another agenda item calls for approval of an unbudgeted purchase for an ambulance bay for Emergency Medical Services, with Director of Public Safety Jason Maertens expected to address the council.
The council is also expected to consider accepting and authorizing a Wiregrass Foundation grant for Americans with Disabilities Act equipment.
In addition, council members will consider approving and authorizing a contract for a short-term lease agreement.
The meeting is open to the public, and residents interested in city government, the FY2027 budget, public safety, transportation, EMS, or other municipal issues are encouraged to attend. The meeting takes place on the second floor at the Ozark Municipal Complex.
