OZARK — The Ozark City Schools Board of Education has unanimously voted to offer the position of superintendent to Marsielena Williams, marking a major step toward finalizing the district’s leadership selection.
The decision came following a comprehensive search process led by education consultant Timothy Morgan, who initially reviewed a large pool of applicants and presented five finalists for the board’s consideration. After multiple rounds of interviews and evaluations, the board narrowed the field to two finalists before ultimately selecting Williams.
“We’re excited to have extended this offer to Mrs. Williams,” said Board President Larry Hicks. “We trust her vision for our schools and her emphasis on relationships will lead our district into its next chapter.”
Williams, an Ozark resident with 25 years of experience in education, currently serves as principal of Carroll High School within Ozark City Schools, a role she has held since 2023.
Before becoming principal, Williams served as director of federal programs and district testing for Ozark City Schools from 2019 to 2023. Her experience also includes serving as an assistant principal in Dothan City Schools from 2018 to 2019, along with nearly a decade as a secondary instructional coach and teacher in Ozark from 2009 to 2018.
Earlier in her career, Williams worked as a math specialist in Maryland and as a classroom teacher in North Carolina, Maryland, and Alabama, building a diverse background in both instruction and leadership.
She holds an Education Specialist degree and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Auburn University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Troy University.
The board’s vote followed a final round of discussions held during a special-called meeting on March 30, where members met with the top two finalists and considered their qualifications and vision for the district.
The selection represents a key milestone for Ozark City Schools as it prepares for a transition in leadership. A final agreement is expected to be completed following contract negotiations with Williams.
