OZARK — The Ozark Dale County Library continues to offer a wide range of engaging and community-focused programs for the public to enjoy throughout the remainder of January, with free events designed to educate, entertain, and bring residents together.
One of the month’s featured programs is a free CPR and First Aid seminar scheduled for Saturday, January 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Bay Meeting Room. The class will be led by paramedic and educator Joe Wood, Ed.D., NRP, of Lifeline Expert Solutions, LLC, and is designed for the general public. Topics will include CPR, AED use, and basic first aid. A lunch break will be held at noon, though lunch will not be provided. Water will be available, however. Space is very limited, and participants must sign up in person at the library’s front desk. The class is not intended for healthcare certification, but Dr. Wood is offering the option of Lifesaver/AED/First Aid Certification. You should speak with him before the seminar for more information about this option.
Several additional programs are scheduled during the latter half of the month. Children’s Story Time is offered every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and again from 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to Story Time to enjoy a great book, fun crafts & activities, and a tasty snack.
The Prose and Cons Teen Media Club will meet on Saturday, January 17, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Teen Library. Open to teens ages 14–18, the club is led by Outreach Specialist Mac Bates, and this month, the program will focus on knights in both fiction and nonfiction. A valid library card is required.
Teens are also invited to Drawn Together Teen Art Hour on Saturday, January 17, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Bay Meeting Room, where supplies will be provided for a guided creative project.
Fans of science fiction, fantasy, and pop culture can attend Fandoms of the Milky Way on Thursday, January 22, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., featuring group discussion and light refreshments.
A Medieval Meetup is scheduled for Saturday, January 24, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., inviting participants to enjoy themed games and activities. Loaner costumes will be available.
Families are encouraged to attend Lego Club on Tuesday, January 27, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Children’s Library. The event is open to all ages and includes building challenges and free play.
The library’s Board of Trustees will hold its monthly public meeting on Wednesday, January 21, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Bay Meeting Room. Everyone is invited to attend.
