An Ozark resident has become the last person sentenced in a major federal drug investigation that stretched across several southeast Alabama counties.
Federal prosecutors announced that 45-year-old Terrell Edwards received a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin. Once released, he will remain under federal supervision for three years.
The sentencing marks the end of a sweeping Drug Enforcement Administration investigation launched in early 2023. Working alongside multiple local agencies, the DEA began looking into suspected drug trafficking connected to 46-year-old Terrance Edwards, Terrell’s brother, in both Dale and Houston counties.
Investigators ultimately identified a network of 15 individuals who had been moving what authorities described as large shipments of methamphetamine and cocaine throughout the Wiregrass.
During the two-year probe, agents determined that Terrance Edwards played a “significant leadership role” within the operation. He was sentenced earlier this year, receiving 34 years in federal prison plus five years of supervised release.
Acting U.S. Attorney Kevin Davidson said the case highlights the federal commitment to dismantling drug operations that threaten communities across the region.
“The Edwards brothers and their co-conspirators flooded the Wiregrass with illegal narcotics,” Davidson said in a released statement. “Their sentences reflect our commitment to protecting the people of this district.”
