Ozark Mayor Charles Ward, County Commission Chairman Steve McKinnon Proclaim November 21-27 Farm-City Week

Ozark Mayor Charles Ward and Dale County Commission Chairman Steve McKinnon have issued a joint proclamation officially designating the week of November 21–27, 2025, as Farm-City Week in Ozark and throughout Dale County.
This annual observance, which coincides with Thanksgiving week across the nation, is celebrating its 70th anniversary. It’s a period dedicated to recognizing the cooperation between rural and urban entities and to showing gratitude for America’s abundant agricultural production and the hard-working farmers whose dedication keeps the people in our nation fed.
The theme selected for this year, “Grow Alabama,” highlights the crucial role agriculture plays in strengthening local communities and the state’s economy. The proclamation points out that Alabama’s farmers, foresters, and agricultural professionals generate over $77.3 billion each year and support more than 270,000 jobs, representing approximately 10 percent of the state’s workforce.
Mayor Ward and Chairman McKinnon emphasized the enduring importance of the partnership between farmers, rural residents, and city inhabitants in securing Alabama’s continuing prosperity.
“American agriculture—and the many service industries that rely upon it—is a testament to extraordinary effort resulting in extraordinary plenty,” the proclamation states. “During this time of year, it’s only right that all Americans offer a special expression of gratitude to those who cultivate, harvest, and bring the bounty of sun, seed, and soil to our nation’s tables.”
The joint proclamation encourages all Dale County residents, both rural and urban, to participate in acknowledging the achievements and dedication of those involved in agriculture and related sectors.
Farm-City Week in the area is set to feature a variety of events and programs. These events will celebrate the connections between farm and city life, showcasing the mutual contributions that contribute to the strength of Alabama communities.
