An Ozark man has been arrested on multiple felony charges following a shooting incident that unfolded in a residential neighborhood late last month.
According to a press release from the Ozark Police Department, officers were dispatched on January 21 to the 200 block of Evergreen Avenue after reports of gunfire between neighbors. Officers secured the area while investigators worked to determine the circumstances that led up to the incident.
Police say the investigation revealed that a verbal dispute escalated between 61-year-old David Lee Jones and a neighbor. Authorities allege that Jones displayed a firearm during the confrontation and that shots were exchanged during the encounter.
Investigators reported that approximately six rounds were fired. No injuries were reported, and police said there was no damage to nearby homes or property as a result of the gunfire.
Following the investigation, Jones was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder. He was also charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, as police say he is legally barred from possessing a pistol due to prior felony convictions.
The incident remains under investigation. No additional details have been released at this time.
