Ozark Police Department Arrests Jaron Taylor for Attempted Murder for his Alleged Role in Recent Shooting and Stabbing Altercation

Today, the Ozark Police Department (OPD) arrested Jaron Taylor, the agency announced in a press release. Taylor had previously been transported to a Dothan hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained during an alleged stabbing and shooting incident on Dixie Drive in Ozark.
The OPD says Taylor has been positively identified as the suspect in the shooting and that waiting for medical clearance from the hospital was the reason for the delay in Taylor’s arrest.
Ozark police and deputies with the Dale County Sheriff Department conducted an investigation into a violent altercation Sunday afternoon on Dixie Drive that left two men injured, one from a stabbing and the other from gunfire. Police say Taylor shot another man, and he sustained knife wounds during the altercation.
According to the Ozark Police Department (OPD), officers and Dale County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 4:45 p.m. on September 14, to the 400 block of Dixie Drive after a 911 call reported a stabbing. When authorities arrived, they determined the man who had been stabbed had fired a gun, striking the individual who had stabbed him.
The Ozark Criminal Investigations Unit, including crime scene technicians, responded to examine the area, gather evidence, and interview witnesses along with the two men involved.
Preliminary findings suggested the conflict started over a past dispute, with one man accusing the other of damaging his vehicle on an earlier date.
Taylor has been identified as the shooter, and authorities had transported him to a Dothan hospital where he was treated for moderate injuries. Authorities were waiting for medical clearance from doctors before placing Taylor under arrest.
The man who was shot in the lower body was taken to Dale Medical Center for treatment and released later the same night.
The OPD publicly thanked the Dale County Sheriff’s Office for assisting in the investigation and stressed the importance of community cooperation.
“The support from the community is pivotal and paramount,” the department said in a statement. “It helps bring justice to those responsible for reckless and senseless violent crime.”
