OZARK — The Roberta Rose Foundation, a local 501(c)3 nonprofit, is asking for community support as it works to expand access to mental health resources and sustain its growing network of support groups across Ozark and Dale County.
The foundation is dedicated to providing vital mental health services designed to meet people where they are, focusing first on the foundational needs that allow individuals and families to stabilize and ultimately thrive.
“Our mission is deeply rooted in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs,” said Jason Varney, Director of the Board for the Roberta Rose Foundation. “For any individual to truly thrive and achieve their full potential, their most fundamental requirements, such as physical safety, food, and a sense of belonging, must be met first. By addressing these core layers of human stability, we aim to create a compassionate foundation where mental wellness isn’t just a goal, but a sustainable reality for every neighbor we serve.”
The Roberta Rose Foundation currently operates several support groups aimed at uplifting community members facing a wide range of mental health challenges. These programs are designed to foster connection, reduce isolation, and provide practical tools for emotional well-being.
In addition to providing mental health support, the Roberta Rose Foundation is heavily involved in developing solutions to assist individuals struggling with homelessness. The foundation often provides essentials, including clothing, blankets, food, and other necessities to the most vulnerable members of the community who have no place to live. Most recently, Varney represented the foundation at the January 13 meeting on homelessness called by Ozark Mayor Charles Ward. Varney is active in these efforts and has joined Ward’s task force, which is dedicated to developing real, long-term solutions to address the root causes of homelessness. The goal is to one day have a shelter so that no one is forced to live in the woods or on the streets.
Foundation leaders say community donations are critical to maintaining and expanding these services. Funds raised will directly support the operation of local support groups and help ensure that mental health resources remain accessible to those who need them most.
“We are empowering our community by raising funds for our life-changing support groups,” the organization said in a statement. “We run several uplifting programs for the local community, and we need your help to continue making a difference.”
