Enterprise — Southern Dog Mission (SDM), a nonprofit animal rescue agency, is urgently seeking foster homes for several dogs currently being housed at Colony Veterinary Clinic, according to a social media announcement from the rescue organization.
In the post, the nonprofit said it wants to assist as many dogs as possible from local shelters, but cannot do so without additional foster families stepping forward.
“We would love to help as many as we can, but we can’t do it alone,” the organization stated, emphasizing that approved fosters are critical to pulling dogs from overcrowded shelters.
SDM is asking interested residents to complete a foster application as soon as possible. Those who are already approved fosters and willing to take in a dog are encouraged to contact the organization directly through Facebook.
The group also encouraged community members who are unable to foster to share the message with friends and family to help spread the word. For those ready to make a permanent commitment, the organization noted that dogs may be adopted directly from the shelter by visiting the Colony in person to meet them.
Animal rescue advocates often stress that foster homes play a key role in saving lives by providing temporary care, socialization, and relief for crowded facilities.
