A small porch fire at the historic Holman House led to multiple agencies responding to the location, though the fire was already extinguished by a good Samaritan who was present at the time.
At least four to five Ozark Police Department vehicles, a Dale County Sheriff’s Office unit, three fire trucks, and an unmarked white truck with red flashing lights were on scene at the Holman House (the location of the Chamber of Commerce) on Broad Street at approximately 6:30 p.m.
According to one source, the small porch fire has been extinguished, and all is now safe. There were no serious injuries reported.
Good Samaritans who were present for a photography session noticed the fire, and one man used a nearby water hose to extinguish it. The individual says that the deck boards were on fire and the damage seemed limited to the boards and was “very minimal.”
We have reached out to authorities for more information, including the cause of the fire, and we will provide an update once we receive a response.
Use caution when traveling down Broad Street in Ozark this evening.
