DOTHAN, Ala. — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting at Biltmore Place in Dothan that left three adult men injured, according to the Dothan Police Department
Officers with the Dothan Police Department, along with personnel from Dothan Fire and Rescue, responded at approximately 4:20 a.m. July 5 to the 2800 block of Fortner Street after reports of gunfire in the area. When first responders arrived, they found three adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. All three received medical treatment for their injuries. Police did not immediately release the names of the victims or the extent of their injuries.
Investigators remained on scene as they worked to gather evidence and piece together what led to the shooting. Authorities said the incident involved both an occupied dwelling and an unoccupied vehicle, but no further details about the circumstances surrounding the case have been released at this time.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, Brandon Dashawn Grubbs, 25, of Headland, Alabama, has been arrested and charged with one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, one count of discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle, and one count of assault in the first degree.
The arrest comes amid a troubling stretch of shootings reported in Dothan and Houston County over the past 10 days, prompting renewed concern from local leaders. In a recent article, Dothan Commissioner Dave Stock said he hopes a proposed Multi-agency Crime task force can help combat gun violence by bringing together law enforcement and other agencies to coordinate a stronger response.
Grubbs was booked into the Houston County Jail, where he is being held without bond. Police said additional charges are pending as the investigation continues. The Chronicle reached out to the Houston County District Attorney’s Office for a comment on the case. Assistant DA Grubbs responded, saying that he has “no comment at this time.”
