MIDLAND CITY—A Midland City man previously identified as a person of interest in a recent shooting has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, according to the Midland City Police Department.
The investigation began on April 5, 2026, at approximately 10:25 p.m., when Dale County Central Dispatch notified officers of a firearm assault on Parker Drive. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an 18-year-old victim outside a residence suffering from gunshot wounds to his lower extremities.
Authorities said the victim was treated at the scene for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries before being transported to a local hospital for further medical care.
During the course of the investigation, police identified Andrevius Terrod Smith Sr., a 42-year-old Midland City resident, as a person of interest.
An arrest warrant for attempted murder was issued on April 16, 2026, after investigators gathered additional evidence in the case. Smith was taken into custody on April 18, 2026. He is also charged with second-degree possession of marijuana.
Midland City police said the arrest was made with assistance from the Dale County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not indicated whether further charges may be filed.
