A Dale County man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday in rural Houston County.
According to Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd, 25-year-old Skylar Metcalf died at the scene after his pickup left the road and overturned in the Wicksburg area. Conflicting reports state Metcalf was from Pinckard, while others list him as a resident of Newton. We have contacted the Houston County Coroner’s Office for clarification.
The crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. in the 500 block of North County Road 9. Authorities say Metcalf was thrown from the vehicle during the wreck.
No one else was in the truck at the time. When more details become available, we will provide an update.
