DOTHAN—Authorities are investigating a likely homicide after a man was found dead Saturday morning in a residential neighborhood in Dothan.
According to a news release from the Dothan Police Department, officers responded just before 9 a.m. on April 18 to a report of a person down in the 300 block of Mauldin Drive. When officers arrived, they discovered a man lying in the front yard of a residence who was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Rickie Tyrrell Temmis of Dothan.
Investigators believe Temmis was shot during the late-night hours of Friday, April 17. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are actively following multiple leads, including retracing the victim’s movements before his death.

Additionally, investigators are seeking any home surveillance footage recorded between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Friday. Officials say even video that may seem insignificant could provide critical information in the case.
Authorities extended their condolences to Temmis’ family and friends, noting the investigation remains ongoing.
