OZARK — As cold overnight temperatures continue across the Wiregrass, All God’s Children has announced updated operating dates for its emergency warming station in Ozark and is now seeking volunteers to help sustain the effort.
The warming station, located at All God’s Children at 912 Andrews Avenue, will be open nightly beginning Tuesday, January 27, with the final evening of operation scheduled for Tuesday, February 3. The shelter will operate overnight from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. each night, offering a safe, warm place for individuals seeking protection from freezing conditions.
The initiative was launched in response to prolonged cold weather and the heightened risks posed to vulnerable populations, including the elderly, individuals experiencing homelessness, families in crisis, and those with limited resources. The warming shelter serves as an excellent example of what a community can do when city leaders, residents, and community leaders work together to accomplish an important goal.
In addition to announcing the updated schedule, Mission: Worthy posted a call for volunteers on Facebook, noting that community assistance is essential to keep the warming station operating. According to the post, even a two-hour volunteer shift can make a significant difference.
“We need volunteers for the warming station in Ozark,” the post stated. “Even if you can volunteer for two hours it will be a great help to keep the warming station going,” the announcement stated.
Mission: Worthy outlined the current volunteer coverage needs as follows:
- Wednesday: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
- Thursday: 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
- Friday: 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
- Saturday: 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
- Sunday: 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
- Monday: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Community leaders involved with the warming station have previously described it as more than a temporary shelter, calling it a vital lifeline during freezing conditions. The effort depends on volunteers, donations, and cooperation among local organizations, churches, businesses, and residents.

Officials also urge residents to check on neighbors, especially seniors and those without adequate heating, as cold weather continues to impact the area.
