Southern Dog Mission is asking the community for urgent help this week as four loving pets — one loyal dog and three playful kittens — wait for someone to give them a safe and permanent home. With local shelters overcrowded, the organization hopes residents will feel moved to adopt or foster.
MISSY BEAR: LOVING, SMART, AND RUNNING OUT OF TIME
Missy Bear, a gentle herding-breed mix, was surrendered to a kill shelter through no fault of her own. Now, she urgently needs a foster or adopter.
“Missy Bear is one of the brightest and sweetest dogs we’ve met,” Southern Dog Mission said. “She knows all her commands, walks wonderfully on a leash, and even offers a little paw shake. She just wants someone to love.”
Missy thrives in homes with confident, larger dogs and is fully housebroken, but she struggles with small dogs. Because of her herding instincts, she isn’t suited for small dogs, but she bonds quickly with attentive handlers and does best with routine and affection.
“She’s ready for a loving home today,” the group added. “Even a temporary foster could save her life.”
WAFFLE, PANCAKE, AND MUFFIN: KITTENS READY TO MELT HEARTS
Three tiny kittens — Waffle, Pancake, and Muffin — are also still searching for their forever homes. Curious, playful, and social, the trio loves toys, exploring new corners, and curling up for cozy naps.
“These babies are full of personality,” Southern Dog Mission said. “They’re sweet, adventurous, and incredibly loving. Any of them would make a wonderful companion.”

Southern Dog Mission hopes this week’s feature inspires families to consider adopting or fostering.
“When people say yes, it truly changes a life,” the organization said. “These animals are ready to give love — they just need someone willing to give them a chance.”
