The Wicksburg JV Panthers opened Thursday night’s matchup with a dominant start and held off a late surge from the Dale County Warriors to secure a 40–31 road victory.
Wicksburg came out firing in the first quarter, jumping ahead 13–4 and controlling the momentum early. By halftime, the Panthers had pushed their lead to 21–4 as the Warriors struggled to find an offensive rhythm.
Dale County answered back in the third quarter, cutting into the deficit as Wicksburg’s lead narrowed to 38–22 heading into the final period. The Warriors continued to battle in the fourth, forcing the Panthers to pick up the pace to avoid a collapse.
Despite the late push, Wicksburg held strong down the stretch to close out the 40–31 win.
The JV Warriors now look to regroup as they continue through their early-season schedule.
