The Wicksburg Panthers picked up an impressive road victory Monday night, surging late to secure a 69–48 win over Geneva County in Hartford and completing a clean sweep for the Wicksburg basketball program.
The Panthers opened strong, taking a 17–11 lead after the first quarter, but Geneva County tightened things up before the break. By halftime, Wicksburg’s advantage had narrowed to just one point at 24–23, setting the stage for a high-energy second half.
Wicksburg managed to regain control in the third, extending the lead to 42–36 heading into the final period. From there, the Panthers turned on the jets. A fast pace on both ends and a sharp fourth-quarter surge allowed Wicksburg to pull away decisively, outscoring the Bulldogs down the stretch and sealing the 21-point victory.
With momentum on their side, the Panthers will turn their attention to a key matchup tomorrow night against G.W. Long.
