OZARK — An Ozark woman is behind bars today following an incident that occurred yesterday in the Jasmine Hills apartment complex. This is an update to a report we issued yesterday afternoon.
According to police, the woman was arrested after she intentionally set a fire inside an apartment on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Ozark Police Department, officers and investigators responded around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, to an apartment complex on Harris Road after receiving reports that a woman was setting fire to the residence.
When officers arrived, they detained the suspect,t and the fire was quickly extinguished. The Ozark Fire Department and Marley Mill Volunteer Fire Department also responded and assisted in extinguishing the fire and declaring the area safe.
Following an investigation, authorities determined that Gloria Lekash Wright, 43, was allegedly intoxicated and had intentionally set fire to clothing and other items inside the apartment.
According to authorities, Wright was transported to Dale Medical Center for medical clearance before being taken into custody and charged with first-degree arson.
Officials said no injuries were reported in the incident. Wright remains in the Dale County Jail.
