OZARK—A woman is behind bars after a violent incident late Friday night. She was arrested on an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing a man at the Choice Inn in Ozark late Friday night, according to information obtained from multiple sources.
Law enforcement officers and emergency medical personnel responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at the motel, located on U.S. Highway 231 in Ozark. According to information relayed during the 911 dispatch call, a female suspect allegedly stabbed a male individual at the Choice Inn motel. Ozark Police Department officers and deputies with the Dale County Sheriff’s Office were first on the scene and provided emergency first aid until Ozark EMS arrived moments later.
According to a press release later obtained from the Ozark Police Department, “The male was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.”
Dispatch communications and the press release confirmed the male victim suffered severe lacerations and significant bleeding before first responders arrived.
The press release from OPD also confirmed that the male had been stabbed with a kitchen knife during “a verbal argument with his girlfriend,” the suspect in this case.
The suspect was initially detained by responding officers. She is Lashanda S, Russell, 33 of Ozark, and she was arrested by the Ozark Police Department late Friday night and booked into the Dale County Jail in the early hours of the morning Saturday, May 30.
According to jail records, Russell has been charged with attempted murder.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the incident, and the identities of those involved have not been formally announced by law enforcement.
